＜ニチレイレディス　初日＞◇17日◇袖ヶ浦カンツリークラブ・新袖コース(6,548ヤード・パー72)

　千葉県にある袖ヶ浦カンツリークラブ・新袖コースを舞台に開幕した、国内女子ツアー「ニチレイレディス」。佐伯三貴が4バーディ・ノーボギーで回り、李知姫(イ・チヒ)(韓国)と並んで4アンダー首位タイスタートを切った。

　佐伯は開幕戦「ダイキンオーキッドレディス」で2位に入ると、優勝を飾った「フンドーキンレディス」まで立て続けに上位フィニッシュ。前半戦を牽引してきたが、ここ4戦は調子が右肩下がり。予選落ちこそないものの思うような成績を残せずにいた。

　しかし所属事務所の社長である松山千春に「勝ったあとがダメだ」と喝を入れられ気分を一新。今大会にいい精神状態で臨めている。これを期に低迷を脱出できるか。

　千葉県の麻倉ゴルフ倶楽部にて開催された「ザ・レジェンド・チャリティプロアマトーナメント」の最終日。6位からスタートした池田勇太がトータル10アンダーまでスコアを伸ばし逆転で優勝した。

　池田は「プロゴルファーなので、ゴルフをして、サインをして、ファンの方を喜ばすことくらいしか出来ないですけど、参加することが出来て良かったです」とこのチャリティ大会に参加できたことを喜んだ。そして自身でもチャリティ大会を計画しているそうで、「自分のこの業界にそろそろ恩返しをしてもいい頃かと思うし、自分の名前が入った大会をスポンサーを募って開催出来ればと思っている。早ければ来年くらいで出来ればいいな」と今後も積極的にチャリティに携わっていく意向だ。

　来週は国内男子メジャー初戦、そして池田がホストプロの「日本プロゴルフ選手権大会　日清カップヌードル杯」が開催される。「来週の優勝に向けて仕上がってきた。今季初優勝は来週だと思っているので、そういう意味でいい週末を過ごせた」。この勝利でホスト大会制覇へ弾みをつけた池田。来週は烏山城カントリークラブで大暴れする若大将が見れそうだ。

　千葉県の麻倉ゴルフ倶楽部にて開催された「ザ・レジェンド・チャリティプロアマトーナメント」の最終日。6位タイからスタートした石川遼はこの日は4バーディ・3ボギーの71ストロークでラウンド。スコアを1つ伸ばしたが、トータル4アンダー11位タイに後退しフィニッシュした。

　石川はこの日、L字型のエースパターではなく、ピンタイプのパターを使用。「L字はフェースがバックスイングで開いて当たる傾向があるので、それを直せれば、と思った」と使用した経緯を説明した。今後は「この2本でやっていけそうな気がします。ピンタイプは久しぶり。今日はかなり転がりが良かった」とL字とこのピンタイプの2本をメインに使用していくとのこと。

　来週は栃木県の烏山城カントリークラブを舞台に、国内メジャー初戦「日本プロゴルフ選手権大会　日清カップヌードル杯」が開催される。「烏山城は試合では6年ぶりです。プロになってからは試合では初めてです。ジュニアの試合では何回か優勝したこともあるし、自分にとっていい経験になると思う」、好相性のコースで今季初優勝を飾れるか。

　「日本プロゴルフ選手権日清カップヌードル杯」開幕を前に大会ホストプロの池田勇太が、栃木県の宇都宮清原球場で開催される「読売ジャイアンツ対横浜DeNAベイスターズ」を訪問。試合前練習に登場し選手を激励すると共に、始球式を行う小学生へボールのプレゼンターも務めた。池田は読売ジャイアンツの原辰徳監督とがっちり握手を交わし、「今週はキャディでもやろうかな」と冗談を投げかけられると満面の笑みで応えていた。

　始球式を行う小学生にボールを渡すためスーツ姿の池田がマウンド近くまで足を運ぶと、プロ野球ファンからも大歓声。「池田ー！今週は優勝だ！」などと多くの熱い声援を浴びた。野球経験は無く、球場に来るのも初めてという池田だが、「雰囲気が違うし、新鮮で楽しかった」と初観戦は良いリフレッシュになった様子。「原監督からは頑張って勝ってくれよとも言われた。いっちょ勝つかな、という気持ちになったね」と本戦へ向け気合いを入れなおしていた。

＜日本プロゴルフ選手権日清カップヌードル杯　事前情報◇9日◇烏山城カントリークラブ(7,193ヤード・パー72)＞

　国内男子メジャー「日本プロゴルフ選手権日清カップヌードル杯」が、10日(木)から栃木県にある烏山城カントリークラブで開催される。予選ラウンドの組み合わせが発表され、石川遼は片山晋呉、久保谷健一と同組で12時30分に10番ティからスタートする事となった。

　大会ホストプロの池田勇太はディフェンディングチャンピオンの河井博大らと同組で12時12分に10番スタート、23年前の烏山城CC開催の日本プロを制している尾崎将司は谷口徹らと同組で12時21分に10番スタートとなっている。

Saints now pessimistic about Graham

That “sense of optimism” about tight endJimmy Graham inevitably has faded.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Saints are now pessimistic about Graham playing on Sunday against the Bills.

Graham injured his foot two weeks ago against the Patriots.  The next day, it was easy for those of us who chase such things to determine that Graham would have an MRI.  It then became difficult if not impossible to find out what the MRI revealed.

The next day, Chris Mortensen of ESPN played the “sense of optimism” card regarding Graham’s post-bye availability, and we were instantly skeptical.日本MP 4

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Graham has a partially torn plantar fascia, and that he’ll get relief only if/when it fully tears.  Officially, Graham is questionable.  If he can’t go, veteran Ben Watson will become the proverbial next man up.  But Watson has no sense of optimism that he’ll do what Graham does.

“We can’t be Jimmy.  We’re not Jimmy,” Watson said of himself and the rest of the team’s pass catchers.

The situation could give the Bills a sense of optimism that they could be able to pull off a road upset for the second straight week.

Report: Jared Allen could be traded by Tuesday

Add another name to the list of players who could be traded by Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that Vikings defensive end Jared Allen could be traded “for the right price.”

While that sentence generally applies to any player, there’s reason to believe it particularly applies to Allen.  He’s in the final year of a contract that pays him a base salary of $14.2 million, which means that he’d be due to make $7.5 million over the rest of the year.

Glazer says the “right price” is more than a third-round pick, which could be more than a new team would want to pay for a guy in the last year of his contract — unless a new deal would be part of the trade.

The real question, in our view, is whether Allen wants to be traded.  As his one-handed sack of Eli Manning proved, Allen still is an elite pass rusher.  Perhaps he’d like to play for an elite team, too.

Vanek’s agent says no extension with Isles just yet

The Thomas Vanek – Matt Moulson trade is an eyebrow-raiser for plenty of reasons, but one important factor is that the New York Islanders gave up significant assets (two high-end picks) for a sniper on an expiring contract. Apparently that deal didn’t come with an already-agreed-upon contract extension, either.

That’s the word from Vanek’s agent Stephen Bartlett, who intimated to TSN’s Bob McKenzie that the 29-year-old might wait until the summer for a new deal (despite dropping an “excited to be an Islander” line).

“We’ll take it day by day and focus on the short term for now and see where we are at season’s end,” Bartlett said.

Translation: “We’re going to see if Vanek can score 50 or 60 goals skating with John Tavares, thus opening the door for an enormous auction.” Or, that’s at least how some might read it. ミズノ MP 4

Now, there’s always the chance that the Islanders could roll out an offer Vanek cannot refuse. Or at least one that provides the kind of long-term security just about every player craves.

Still, Vanek’s in a great position here: playing a prime role for a better team alongside one of the best players in the NHL while gaining the opportunity to name his destination next summer. To think, just an hour ago he was one of the only bright spots on one of the bleakest rosters in the league …
